Screen Production Grant
When filming in New Zealand, International Productions can access a cash grant from the New Zealand government equivalent to 20% of the budget spent, up to NZD 25 million, thereafter it’s 18%. The 20% grant is only available if the spend is greater than 15 million New Zealand dollars in the case of features, or 4 million in the case of any other type of production. There is an additional 5% available, if the production offers significant economic benefit to New Zealand. There is of course greater complexity to the grant, but this is the bare bones.
Post, Digital and Visual Effects Grant
When post producing and/or creating your visual effects in New Zealand, regardless of where the production has taken place, International Productions can access a New Zealand government cash grant, equivalent to 20% of the budget spent. The spend must be greater than 500 thousand New Zealand dollars.
